Teaching
I have been an instrumental teacher for many years, and my holistic approach draws on my experience of classroom music teaching. I offer lessons in classical guitar, piano (primarily classical), and music theory, to students from age six upwards. I have an Enhanced Disclosure Certificate as a Private Music Teacher (child workforce) which is backed by The Independent Society of Musicians (ISM) as my employer, and I subscribe to the continual update service - please see footer for details.
I focus on the development of well-rounded musicians. Lessons focus on the understanding of notation, the development and mastery of technique and musicality, and the encouragement of musical curiosity. My approach has brought much success for my students in both Trinity Guildhall and ABRSM exams, from Initial/Preparatory grades, through to Grade 8.
Lessons take place primarily face-to-face at my home in Tettenhall, Wolverhampton, but can occasionally be taken online when necessary.
Teaching currently takes place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays mainly in term-time; summer holiday lessons can be negotiated. I will occasionally take personal holiday within term-time and am happy to rearrange extra lessons to accommodate this should anyone wish to do so.
Lesson fees
Fees for piano, guitar and music theory lessons:
£16.50 for 30 minutes
£24.75 for 45 minutes
£33.00 for 60 minutes
Before the first lesson
Before lessons can commence, I will arrange a meeting with the prospective student and parents/guardians where necessary. This free-of-charge meeting is an opportunity for students and their parents/guardians to meet me, see the room in which lessons take place, and go through the terms and conditions.
