"Helen is an excellent teacher who gives thorough and meaningful advice. She taught me in a way which not only made me enhance my musical ear and technique but also made me engage further in practice at home. Beyond teaching, she is passionate about leading groups and I have very fond memories of taking part in rehearsals and tours in her vocal groups. There is no denying that her teaching sees results and vast improvements in marks in musical exams and A level performances. She is an excellent accompanist and I look back on my time in sixth form with happy memories of my performance coaching."

"It would be a huge disappointment if I’d walk into music to find it wasn’t Helen (Mrs Cooper) teaching the lesson. When you go on to pursue a career within the music/performing industry, you always share stories about having the one or two teachers growing up that you believe shaped where you are today, and I can say for certain that Helen was one of them. She has the perfect combination of understanding and compassion, whilst also holding you accountable for the work you should be doing in between lessons. But most importantly, her own passion and drive for music is completely infectious and whether you’re pursuing music as a hobby or a career, you can’t help but contract that passion from her. I’ll forever be grateful to Helen, and will always count myself lucky that she came into my life when she did."

"Mrs Cooper taught me classical guitar from ages 13 to 18 and in that short time I managed to go from pre-grade to completing my Grade 7 classical guitar exam with a merit! She is an incredibly amazing, caring, talented, and knowledgeable woman and teacher. I was so sad when I had to stop having lessons with her due to me leaving school! My guitar lessons with Mrs Cooper are times that I can fondly look back on. She made learning fun and helped me grow musically in more ways than I ever could have imagined. Lessons with Mrs Cooper were always clearly organised and structured and she always provided very helpful constructive criticism to help improve my guitar skills as well as my general skills as a musician. I owe a lot to Mrs Cooper!"

"Helen taught both of my daughters to play the piano. When one of my daughters didn’t want to take exams but did want to progress Helen was happy to continue and made the lessons fun and engaging. Both continued to grade 5 standard. For our family it wasn’t all about the exams but what a skill to have."

"I had both virtual and in person piano lessons with Helen and her personalised teaching style meant the lessons were tailored to my needs and ability so I could progress quickly. I would definitely recommend Helen to anyone considering music lessons. I really valued her technical and detailed feedback, and it’s thanks to Helen’s supportive teaching that I achieved a Distinction in my Grade 8!"

“We felt we must let you know just how much we enjoyed the Punch and Carols on Sunday night. It was a perfect start to Christmas week. So many musicians – it was lovely to see and hear them. Most of all, Helen, thank you for the enormous work you put in at church – you have such a gift.”
